Scott is a wetland ecosystem ecologist. Before starting at UCSC, Scott worked as a research scientist at Stanford University and a postdoctoral researcher at ETH Zurich. He completed his PhD in Environmental Science and Policy at the Duke University Nicholas School of the Environment.
Scott has expertise in the biogeochemical functioning of freshwater wetlands and streams, including the measurment of greenhouse gas dynamics and nutrient cycling.
Scott is interested in wetland field research that supports the conservation and management of wetland resources.
